You'll have fun tapping the receiver - but it'll look damn nice once its done. Must admit, i've got a tip off to a source of post-war ZF-39 scopes that come from the Czech republic, so i'm considering doing the same.
Still trying to decide between repro turret or claw mounts though! lol

There are two problems, first is alignment, second is material
As windage is adjusted on the mount, not the scope (and they don't have a huge amount of adjustment built into them) alignment has to be as close to perfect as possible. Materials wise, you're tapping Mazac - which to be honest, ain't the best material to screw things into as its quite soft, and strips easily - but if it does strip, just Helicoil the holes.

"The Winter war" by William Trotter - totally recomend this book to anyone .
"Finnish Troops 39-44" Osprey
Talvisota - Finnish 1989 film about the Winter war, watched it after reading the book and very exellent it is too, although a little drawn out at 3 hours long.
Finns, fought the Russian unaided for 6 months in the Winter War, the Russians lost 10/1 lives and gave up .
Short period of peice and then the Finns and the Germans counterattacked to regain lost land . Eventually the "Continuation War" stagnated, until by late 1944 the Finns called a truce with Russia.
Finally as part of this truce they had to fight to remove German forces for another 6 months in the Lapland war.
Stunning effort from a small country with no tanks to speak of , no air force, no real arms industry and a very small army . Produced what was arguable the best SMG, the Suomi KP31 and also the highest scoring sniper who despatched over 500 Russians using iron sights in only the six months of the Winter War .
My Mrs got me a book at the local charity shop, Arnhem 1944 by Janusz Piekalkiewicz, some cracking photos, gonna start reading it tonight.
The book "Songs my Mother never taught me" arrived yesterday. 2nd edition print from 1927. Nice collection of songs and poems by soldiers, sailors and airmen of the US Army who fought in France.
Alas, they left out the really naughty stuff
Also got my Leica NOOKY close-up adapter, now it's time to wait for the re-enactment season to start again so I can go out and use it!

Delivered today, pair of old (but unused) Feuerhand 275 paraffin lamps. This design dates back to 1933! I'll be sand blasting them then repainting them in the right colour. At less than 20 quid delivered for the pair, its a bargain way to get more light around the camp at night. A full fill will give 14 hrs burn time!
